Adoration through Advent: 25 Prayers to Center Your Heart on Christ this Season
Week Three: JOY, Day Sixteen: MY SOURCE OF JOY
“Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy.” James 1:2 (NLT)
We can count our trials as joy because they produce a necessary kind of patience. This is not a passive patience where we sit around bored to tears. Consider the overwhelming joy of finishing an enduring task or race. This is the frame of mind—like the Greek term for patience, hupŏmŏnē, indicates—that cheerfully endures. This is the joy we look forward to when our it is made complete in Christ. Oh, come let us adore Him!
Jesus, you are our source of joy through every trial. Joy can be found in every trial because You infuse our hearts with the anticipation of where we are headed. We do not run and endure this race in vain. We run for the prize in Christ Jesus. I pray for the woman who feels beaten down and flat-out exhausted right now. Though she feels worn out, preserve her heart through trials. May helms she with the fullness of your joy cheerfully endure this race, as she anticipates Your coming. In Jesus’ name, amen
Do you feel exhausted? Talk to God about it. Discern what it will take to cheerfully endure this race, as He fuels your heart with joy.
